No One Here But Monsters: What Born From a Wish tells us about the world of Silent Hill

The "Born From a Wish" additional scenario that was added on as bonus material to Silent Hill 2 when it was released on Xbox is a weird bird that has always been a bit tough for me to deal with on an analytical front. So many things about it seem at odds with the main story. For the longest time, it just felt to me like something the team was forced to tack on to appease the Old Gods of Microsoft. But, on a recent playthrough, something stuck out to me. Something that completely changes how I look at the overall worldbuilding of Silent Hill 2 as a whole. Like, in a "Holy shit, was Vincent right?" sort of way. But, let's back up. It is a given that Maria is a creation of the town and James's need for self-flagellation. OHMYOHMYOHMYOHMY I wrote a book. It has been published. This is weird as fuck. MEANINGLESS CYCLES IN A VICIOUS GLASS PRISON: SONGS OF DEATH AND LOVE Yes. I know the title is long as fuck. I spent too much time into early 00's metalcore and I adore absurdly long titles. Still, the book is cool. My mom says so, so you know it's true. Anger Management and Poor Word Choices at Stokercon

Over this past weekend's Stokercon (a thoroughly great experience, by the way), I had the opportunity to get interviewed by professional madman Scott Edelman for his podcast, Eating the Fantastic. It was fun, but I realized I answered a question entirely wrong. He asked me what my favorite experience at a con was and I rambled for a bit about getting to hang out with goddess-tied-rudely-to-this-mundane-plane Linda Addison. While that was marvelous and will likely leave me forever altered, my answer was erroneous. On further thought, the honest answer is that my favorite memory of a con is held in the relationships I've built from them.
